The New Crew Is About to Come to the ISS | Daily News in Russia


A carrier rocket “Soyuz-FG” was launched from Baikonur cosmodrome with a manned spacecraft “Soyuz TMA-06M” and the new ISS crew. Cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky (Roscosmos), Eugene Tarelkin (Roscosmos) and Kevin Ford (NASA) went to the near-Earth orbit. The docking of the new Russian “Soyuz” with the ISS should happen today, on October, 25th.
For the Russians Novitsky and Tarelkin it’s the first flight into space, while Ford is flying for the second time.
The flight of the new crew at the station is planned to last 148 days. They have to unload four transport ships “Progress” and one European truck ATV-4. The crew of the 33rd expedition is not planned to have spacewalks.

These are Kevin Ford, Oleg Novitsky and Eugene Tarelkin at the spaceship “Soyuz”.

“Soyuz TMA-06M” is being transported by railway to the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

The spaceship has come to the rocket site.




Chief epidemiologist of the Cosmonaut Training Center named after Yuri Gagarin and others are waiting for the cosmonauts at the hotel. Traditionally cosmonauts and austronauts leave their signatures on this door.

BMW Vs Bridge | Daily News in Russia

This terrible accindent happened in Kazan, Tatarstan, and the culprit is the BMW driver. At full speed he rammed the bridge bearing at the new interchange. But looking at these photos it’s so hard to believe that the driver and the passenger both survived and practically weren’t injured.

Ruskealsky gap is a place in Karelia. It’s a huge hole about ten meters (33 ft) deep with water on its bottom. As locals say it formed in the 1960s after strong explosions in the neighbouring quarry. The roof of the old waterlogged tunnels broke and fell into the water. A huge hole 20 x 30 m (65×100 ft) appeared on the surface.

The main feature of the gap is its special microclimate. Due to the effect of “a cold sack” the ice in the remote corners of the mine never melts. Even in summer one can walk along it. However it’s not like that near the very hole.















Soviet Helicopter Ka 26 | Daily News in Russia


The Kamov Ka-26 is a Soviet light utility helicopter with co-axial rotors. The Ka-26 entered production in 1966. 850 have been built.They were used in various sectors of economy but some people associate them with the Soviet traffic police. Yes, orange and blue Kamov helicopters used to patrol Soviet roads.
Today it’s a luck to see a Ka-26 in the air, Mi-2 helicopters are far more frequently seen.

These helicopters are now based at the airfield “Aerograd Mozhaisky”, Moscow.
